Carla comes from a long line of producers in her family; her mother Raquel, who is essentially the Godmother of the family coffee enterprise received some Geisha seeds from her brother directly from Panama (which makes them a more authentic, "true" varietal since they haven't been cultivated from a secondary source outside Panama). This ensures they have more of the characteristics we love from the varietal, including it's lovely florality, black tea notes and clean taste that is devoid of bitterness.
The farm has an abundance of shade, and very organically rich soil. Carla hand de-pulped the cherries and then sealed them in plastic barrels to ferment for 48hrs, which produces an absolutely stellar vibrancy and syrupy mouthfeel that is a true joy to experience. It makes us think of a really tangy strawberry and raspberry jam that is thick and bright with intense sweetness.
We hope you love this coffee as much as we did when we first tried it.
Our tasting notes, which you don't have to agree with at all, are:
Black tea, mango, pineapple, Japanese plums, candied ginger, and yellow peach
