Special Selection - Abder Malik Keder

When we got samples of this coffee in and tasted it blind on the table, it absolute blew us away and was just so much better than the other coffees, which were actually pretty great themselves . The clean black tea notes made us think it was a Geisha/Gesha variety, and yet at the same time we could tell that it was an Ethiopian. This coffee from the Shakiso washing station in East Guji is classified as a washed coffee, though it had a 6 hour soak time and then a 75hr extended fermentation after that before the cherries were depulped then dried on raised beds for 9-12 days. Abder is meticulous with their processing of the coffee that the source from neighbouring farms.

This gives it a juicy body and intense flavours without any funk and a clean, elegant finish.  We notice a really lovely ripe raspberry, peach and macadamia nut flavour throughout the cup.

As with all of our Special Selection coffees, we will be donating $1.00 from the sale of each 200g box to the Portland Hotel Society that helps those in the DTES through a variety of different programs including housing, counseling, drug addiction support, safe injection sites and indigenous community support.
